Michael R. Whalen
President and executive Director
Mike Whalen is a 1974 graduate of Notre Dame with a degree in finance. Morale Entertainment grew directly out of Mr. Whalen’s vision to provide quality entertainment to troops far from home. He brings to Morale 35 years of experience in the entertainment business, where he functioned in a variety of roles from live show rigger to television producer. He also brings an expertise in mechanical and electrical systems. Mr. Whalen has managed performance venues and produced television shows for ABC, CBS and NBC. He previously owned and operated a major satellite television operation.
Mike conceived and produced six tours of notable Americans to visit US Armed forces serving in the Middle East and Europe under the auspices of Morale Entertainment. Participants have included Jim Lovell, Gene Cernan, and the late Neil Armstrong, Indy 500 drivers Mario Andretti, Johnny Rutherford, and Al Unser, Jr. and prominent NCAA Division 1 college football coaches.
Mr. Whalen has produced corporate events for IBM, Lucent Technologies, Coca-Cola, Boeing, the White House, and numerous other events around the world. He has been involved in seventeen Olympic Games during his career.
